MGS Fair Play – Respect Code Parent & Coach Compact

It is the intention of this compact to promote Fair Play and Respect for all participants within MGS. Please read the code and continue throughout the year to observe and follow all the principles contained within. Your signature on the registration form is your family’s agreement that you understand the code and will abide by the code.

I will remember that my child plays softball for her enjoyment, not mine.

I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflict without resorting to hostility and violence.

I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of the game.

I will make her feel like a winner by offering praise for competing fair.

I will never ridicule my child, other players, coaches or umpires for making a mistake or losing a game.

I will remember that children learn by example. I will applaud good plays by both teams.

I will never question an official’s judgment. I recognize that officials are being developed in the same manner as players.

I will insist that my child plays in a safe and healthy environment, free of alcohol, drugs or tobacco. I will refrain from their use at all MGS activities.

I will support all efforts to stop verbal and physical violence upon any MGS player, coach, official or spectator.

I will respect and show appreciation for the volunteers who give their time to MGS.

I will never yell, taunt, threaten or inflict physical violence upon any MGS player, coach, official or spectator.

I will refrain from the use of abusive or vulgar language at any time at the field or function. I will be given a warning. If I continue to use improper language I will not be allowed to attend games and jeopardize my daughter’s right to play.

I will not be critical of, or embarrass any player, coach or official.

I will leave the coaching to the coaching staff, and encourage my child to play in a manner consistent with the team’s strategy and plans.

I will support the whole team concept.

I agree that school will take precedence over softball.

I realize that my child is responsible for her own equipment.

I will emphasize skill development and a serious approach to practice and games.

I will attempt to learn the game of girl’s softball. (ASA rules, skills, equipment, play).

I understand the commitment, discipline, social skills acquired by participation in a team sport.

I understand my daughter’s position on the team is dependant upon her attendance at practices and games.

I will communicate all concerns to the team’s coach or Division Director.

I will play softball because I want to, not because others want me to.

I will play by the rules of softball, and in the spirit of the game.

I will behave and hold myself accountable at all times when representing my team or MGS.

I agree not to endanger myself or others by throwing objects, jumping on the benches or not conducting myself according to any safety rules the coaches or officials may ask.

I agree that alcohol, tobacco and drugs have NO PLACE in softball.

I will control my temper will participating in MGS activities.

I will respect my opponents, their fans and the officials.

I understand that team rivalries have no place at school.

I will do my best to be a team player and encourage team play.

I will remember that winning is not every thing.

I will remember that coaches and officials are there to help me and I will accept their decisions and show them respect.

I will have fun but not waste valuable practice, instruction, and game time.

I will understand I have a responsibility to my team to show up for practices and games in a timely fashion, ready to play.

I will notify my coach if I am running late or are unable to attend a practice or game.

I will respect other’s property, belongings and the field at which I play.

I will clean up after myself and my teammates. I will help put team equipment away.

I agree to do my best in all my endeavors on and off the field.

I will conduct myself with class and dignity.

I will communicate any problems I am having to my parents and my coaches.
