Marshfield Beach Blast Softball Tournament

2015 Rules & Regulations

 

1)     All teams will be given three “MVP Awards” at check-in. At the end of each preliminary game, each team will present one to an OPPOSING player.   Please check with the opposing coach before making your selection so a different player will be chosen each game.

2)     Rosters are limited to 15 players.

3)     There is no infield practice on any of the playing fields, warm up in Outfield only. Also NO Soft-Toss against any fences.

4)     15-minute grace period before the FIRST game of the day only!  After the grace period for the first game, and at the scheduled game time for all remaining games, any team who cannot field at least 8 players will forfeit the game.  All forfeited games will result in a score of 6-0.  All Teams must be READY TO PLAY 20 Minutes before the scheduled start time of their game if the field is ready and the previous game is completed.

5)     Friday & Saturday: No new inning can start after 1 hour 20 minutes. The next inning begins immediately after the 3rd out of the previous inning.  The umpire will keep game time. HOME team will NOT bat in bottom half of last inning if they are ahead.

6)       Sunday: No new inning can start after 1 hour 30 minutes. NO limit on Semi Finals and Championship Games.

7)      Preliminary Round - Five (5) run maximum per inning, ALL innings.

8)      Elimination Round  - Five (5) run maximum per inning, no limit in 6th (or last declared inning if at time limit) & Extra innings

9)      A twelve (12) run mercy rule will be in effect. The losing team must complete four (4) times at bat unless the time limit prohibits this.

10)    At end of Preliminary round, teams will be seeded based on tie-breakers below.

Record –( 2 pts for a WIN, 1 pt for a TIE), Head to Head, Least runs allowed, Most runs scored, Coin toss

11)    During Preliminary round (Friday & Saturday), coin flip will decide HOME team. In Elimination round (Sunday), highest seed is home team.

12)    During Preliminary round, games can end in a tie. 

13)    During Elimination round, “International Tie-Breaker” will be used for all extra innings. (Under this rule, each team starts the inning with the player who completed the last official at bat, as a base runner on second base. Each subsequent inning will start the same until a winner has been determined).

14)    The umpire(s) will settle protests immediately on the playing field.

15)    Each team will supply their own medical kit which will include ice packs.

16)   Players should dress in full team uniforms.

17)   All players, parents, spectators and coaches are expected to behave and act in a responsible and respectful manner.  Anyone ejected will be required to leave the complex for the remainder of the tournament.  Refusal to leave may result in forfeit of the game and/or the team’s removal from the tournament. Coaches are expected to control the behavior of their fans.

18)    The Tournament Director reserves the right to change schedules, fields, or make other revisions as needed if in the best interest of the tournament. If weather becomes a major issue, # of games may be reduced in order to complete tourney.

19)    All players on each team in this tournament MUST RESIDE IN THE SAME TOWN unless pre-approved by tourney committee!

 

              ANY TEAM MISREPRESENTING THEMSELVES IN ANYWAY IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION!!!

 

20)    Furnace Brook and Governor Winslow Field Rules:

a)    No Pets, No grilles or cooking, No alcoholic beverages of any kind

b)      No hitting or throwing against any fences.

c)     Only authorized vehicles on the field complex.

 

21)   Rain/Weather Policy- Game Cancelation will be decided by Tournament Director. Any Game Canceled due to inclement weather will be replayed from 1st inning unless 3 full innings were completed.

12U & 14U PLAYING RULES :

 

1.      12 inch, yellow, raised stitch game-ball will be used

2.      40 foot pitching distance

3.      Dropped 3rd strike rule IS in effect

4.      Infield fly rule IS in effect

5.      Stealing on release of pitch, all bases.

6.      Runner leaving early will be called out.

7.      No “Continuation” on Walks

8.      Caged helmets are mandatory

9.      6 inning games

10.     Pitcher must be removed after hitting 4 batters/ game or 3/inning.

11.    Nine fielders, three (3) must be positioned in the outfield.

12.    OF’s must start in OF grass, can move on release of pitch

13.    NO “Show Bunt, pull back and swing” 1st offense batter is out, 2nd offense same batter is ejected from Tournament.

14.    Minimum of Eight (8) players to start game.

15.    Free substitution for all fielders & pitchers.

16.    No restriction on # of innings any pitcher may pitch in game or in entire tourney

17.    Continuous batting order will be used, late arriving players go to bottom of batting order

18.    If a player becomes INJURED or ILL during a game there will be NO out called for her batting position.  If for any other reason a batter leaves the order, an out will be called.

19.    Teams may, and are encouraged to, cheer, sing, etc for THEIR TEAMMATES. However no team may direct singing, chants, etc at an opposing player.

20.    Players must slide to avoid contact. All sliding rules are at the discretion of the Umpire

21.    Courtesy Runners may be used for the Pitcher or Catcher, runner will be last out

10U PLAYING RULES:

 

1.    11 inch, yellow raised stitch, game-ball will be used

2.    35 foot pitching distance

3.     NO dropped 3rd strike rule, No Infield Fly rule

4.     Stealing on release of pitch

5.    Runner leaving early will be called out.

6.    Stealing of 2nd & 3rd base only, NO stealing of home

7.   Runners can advance only ONE (1) base on a steal.      

8.    Caged helmets are mandatory

9.    No “Continuation“ on walks

10.  6 inning games

11.  Pitcher must be removed after hitting 4 batters in a game or 3 in one inning

12.  Free substitution for all fielders & pitchers.

13.  No restriction on # of innings any pitcher may pitch in game or in entire tourney

14.  TEN (10) fielders, four (4) must be positioned in the outfield

15.  OF’s must start in OF grass, can move on release of pitch
